Please join Brooks Wine on an exciting expedition for patrons of our wine club. We are exploring Northwestern Spain for nine days in October 2018. This will be an exciting time visiting wineries in the Ribera del Duero and Toro regions, discovering art, and tasting incredible food along the way. Come along and learn about the history and culture of this ancient region.

Day 1


Land at the Adolfo Suárez Madrid–Barajas Airport this morning, and meet your Travel Director. Take a private transfer to the Ribera del Duero area, your home for the next seven nights.

Quintanilla de Onésimo

Continue on to the Ribera del Duero wine region and check in to our hotel, a centuries old, restored water mill. Come together to enjoy a special welcome dinner at the hotel’s restaurant, featuring a wide range of wines from Castilla y León.

Day 2

Medina del Campo 

Stop at Campoveja Queseria, a cheese shop located in the heart of Castilla y León. Tour the facility, learn about their cheesemaking process, and taste five different sheep's milk cheeses. Next, drive to the stunning town of Medina de Campo and view the Castle of La Mota. Learn the history and cultural importance of the castle during a tour.


After, head to a winery in La Seca, a village and appellation of Rueda. Enjoy a tour and tasting before lunch at at winery. Tonight, we'll savor a traditional Spanish dinner at one of our favorite restaurants tonight in Valladolid.

Day 3


Explore the Cigales D.O. area today, known for producing award-winning rosé and red wines. Head to Sinforiano Winery for a tour and tasting of their premium wines. Next, we’ll feast on lunch in a 13th-century wine cellar. Enjoy traditional dishes from the region, such as delectable Castilian roast lamb.


After lunch, continue on to the 300-year-old La Legua Winery. Meet the winemaking staff, learn about their cultivation practices, and see the recently built production building and barrel room. This evening we’ll enjoy free time and dinner together in Valladolid.

Day 4


Head to a traditional market in Valladolid to view the local produce and delicacies. We’ll head over to the the international cooking school for a hands-on class. Learn about tapas, or small plates, that are one of Spain’s most famous and traditional foods. Make a lunch out of the tapas created in our class, complemented by Valladolid wines.


Refresh your palette at an amazing microbrewery, La Loca Juana. Head to Iscar Castle, an ancient fort on a hilltop, where this microbrewery is located. Tour the great halls, tower, and fermentation areas. Enjoy a tasting of beers and tapas. Savor a dinner in Sardón de Duero of traditional grilled lamb skewers.

Day 5

Ribera de Duero

Head to a boutique winery in Peñafiel producing wines from the Tinto Fino, or Tempranillo, varietal. Tour the facility and then taste some of their wines with the owner. After, head to the Pago de Carraovejas Winery for a special tour and tasting. Enjoy lunch at José Maria’s restaurant.


Visit the Provincial Wine Museum in the gorgeous Peñafiel Castle. Listen as an expert guide gives an extensive overview of the rich wine-making history of Valladolid. Enjoy dinner at your leisure this evening.

Day 6

Plaza Mayor, Salamanca

Spend the day in Salamanca, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Walk through the city with an expert guide, passing gorgeous Baroque architecture and historical landmarks like Plaza Mayor, Casa de las Conchas, the old and new cathedral, and Casa Lis.


Delight in a special lunch at the only Michelin-starred restaurant in Salamanca. Experience Chef Victor Gutiérrez’s experimental creations with Peruvian roots. Explore at your own pace this afternoon, then head back to the hotel for dinner at your leisure.

Day 7


Travel to Quinta de la Quietud Winery this morning and learn about their organic farming methods and respect for the environment. Next up, discover the family-owned Teso la Monja Winery with over five generations of grape growing experience in Rioja. View the vineyards spread over the foothills of the Sierra de Cantabria and tour the beautifully designed estate. Lunch is served at the estate.


Back in Valladolid this evening, we’ll discover the city’s tapas scene via a lively tapas crawl through the old quarter. Enjoy the unique tastes of Spain!

Day 8


Check out of the hotel, then take a private transfer to our new hotel in Spain’s lively capital city of Madrid. Take time to walk through the Madrid city center on your own. Perhaps take a walk through Mercado de San Miguel, an open-air market filled with various bars, cellars, tapas stalls, and fresh produce. You are free to enjoy lunch at your leisure.


After soaking up the vibrancy of Madrid come together for a farewell dinner tonight. Celebrate our experiences and newfound appreciation for Spanish wines and culture.

Day 9


Savor your last breakfast before checking out. Take a private transfer to the Adolfo Suárez Madrid–Barajas Airport for flights home, or stay for an optional three-day extension in Madrid. Buen viaje!

Explore the city during a morning panoramic tour, visiting some of Madrid’s most important historical sites and enjoy a visit to the Prado Museum with an expert guide. The rest of the afternoon is on your own. Enjoy lunch and dinner at your leisure.

Day 10

The day is on your own to explore this cosmopolitan city at your own pace. Stroll through the historic boulevards and well-manicured parks. Enjoy a laidback dinner at our favorite vinoteca for tapas and regional wine.

This trip has been designed to include daily exploratory walks that range from one to three hours. Guests should feel comfortable meandering along cobbled surfaces, walking up and down stairs, and sauntering down uneven nature paths.
