Saint-Joseph & Hermitage
Spend the morning and afternoon discovering the different terroirs of Hermitage, Saint-Joseph, Cornas, and Saint-Péray appellations — tasting some of the best Crus wines. Start the day enjoying magnificent views over Hermitage wine country from the St. Christopher Chapel. Visit at least two wineries today, tasting several Syrah and Marsanne Rhône wines with an expert. Relax with a rustic winery lunch.
We’ll head back to Lyon late this afternoon with ample time to explore the city at your leisure. Lyon is filled with an array of amazing restaurants — you are free to enjoy dinner on your own this evening.
Cote Rotie & Condrieu
This morning we’ll head out to explore the prestigious Côte-Rôtie and Condrieu wine appellations — producing some of the Northern Rhône’s most famous wines made from the Syrah and Viognier grapes. Accompanied by a wine expert, we’ll visit some of the areas most interesting winemakers and learn what makes this wine so exceptional. Enjoy breathtaking views of hillside vineyards spread across the Rhône Valley. We’ll savor a wine-paired lunch at a winery before heading back to Lyon.
Back in Lyon, we’ll take a brief stroll down cobbled passageways in Vieux Lyon, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and discover the essential moments along the way. Discover why Lyon is considered the gastronomy capital of France and walk through the Halles de Lyon Paull Bocuse — the city’s covered food market filled with delicious treasures. Enjoy dinner on your own this evening in Lyon with time to explore at your leisure.
Châteauneuf-du-Pape & Saint-Rémy
This morning, we’ll depart Lyon and travel to our hotel in Saint-Rémy. En route, we’ll stop and discover wines from the renowned wine region of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, where vineyards cover more than 7,900 acres of land. Strict appellation d'origine contrôlée rules allow 18 varieties of red and white wines to be produced. Enjoy a tasting and lunch at a boutique winery while learning about the region's history and terroir.
Once in Saint-Rémy, we’ll settle into our luxe hotel. Enjoy the chateau’s supreme comfort and take time to explore the grounds, including 17 acres of rolling hills and gardens. Sit down to a dinner at the chateau this evening.
Les Baux & Graveson
Travel to Les Baux-de-Provence to explore the village’s cobblestone streets, rock formations, and 10th-century castle. Visit Carrières de Lumières, a quarry turned art installation. Stroll around the village of Les Baux with your Travel Director and stop for lunch on your own.
In the afternoon, we’ll head to the charming village of Graveson for a culinary workshop in Chef Yvan’s colorful studio. Master essential French cooking techniques from his charismatic instruction. Indulge in a dinner of our own creation, enjoyed with Chateauneuf-du-Pape wine and storytelling.
Arrive at the ancient city of Avignon, filled with magnificent art and architecture. Tour a famed distillery, taste its award-winning popular brandies and liqueurs and learn how the distillery grows “prisoned pears” inside bottles. Relax during a lunch inside the distillery.
Wander through Avignon on a guided tour, winding down streets with boutiques, artisan stores, and cafés. Explore the Palais des Papes, the world’s largest Gothic palace. Spend time exploring this ancient city on your own with dinner at your leisure.
Cadenet & Lourmarin
Head to an organic farm for a day of truffle hunting. Meet an expert hunter and his dog in the field. Sample fresh truffles paired with Champagne. Enjoy a buffet lunch paired with estate wines.
Head to the beautiful village of Lourmarin, surrounded by vineyards and olive groves. Wander the quaint city center and see the 15th-century castle. Later, take part in a game of pétanque, a popular Provençal ballgame, during a private court session. Take part in this French pastime followed by aperitifs. This evening we’ll enjoy a memorable farewell dinner.
Le Royal Hotel Lyon
Spend three nights in the center of Lyon at the Hotel Le Royal Lyon. The townhouse-like hotel is a short walk to Lyon’s Old Town and overlooks the Place Bellecour. The hotel offers three dining spaces to enjoy Lyonnaise cuisine – Côté Cuisine for breakfast, L’Institut restaurant and cooking school, and Côte Bellecour for regional wines and bites.
Vallon de Valrugues
Enjoy four nights in this luxurious hotel in beautiful Saint-Rémy-de-Provence. Spacious and refined, the accommodations feature an exceptional villa and suites. This trip has been designed to include daily exploratory walks that range from one to three hours. Each day, whether touring a city or winery, guests should be prepared to be on their feet for multiple continuous hours. Guests should feel comfortable strolling along cobbled surfaces, walking up and down stairs, and sauntering down uneven nature paths. Europe tends to have Old World infrastructure (narrow cobblestone streets, lack of elevators, etc.) which can leave some areas inaccessible — if you require any walking assistance, please inquire with our guest services team.
