Land in the Bordeaux–Mérignac Airport, and meet your friendly Travel Director in the arrivals area. Take a private transfer to our comfortable estate in the country set amongst the vineyards of Château Smith Haut Lafitte.
Settle in and unwind at the property. Enjoy a stroll through the property and view the surrounding vineyards before sitting down for a delectable welcome dinner.
Head to the slopes of Bordeaux’s historic Graves region for a day of extraordinary tastes. Visit a Château with a history of producing Bordeaux wine as early as 1461. Ancient vines have been successfully preserved for over a century, producing grapes essential to each estate bottle. Enjoy a private tour of the property and tasting.
Drive to the heart of the village of Sauternes for lunch. Enjoy a traditional French meal and wine tasting while overlooking the vineyards of Château Guiraud. After lunch, discover the exceptional wines from Château d’Yquem. Yquem is a Premier Cru Supérieur – the only Sauternes given this rating that indicates superiority. Tour the beautiful estate and learn about its prestigious 400 year-old history. Sit down to a casual dinner of light French fare at the hotel’s wine bar.
Spend the morning in the wine regions gateway city. Experience the liveliness and beauty of a renewed Bordeaux, thanks to the addition of pedestrian walkways, avant-garde art spaces, and innovative architecture. Stroll through Vieux Bordeaux (Old Bordeaux) and along the river Garonne with your guide. See dramatic stone buildings, visit outdoor markets, and soak up the vibrant atmosphere.
After lunch, head to La Cité du Vin for a unique experience. Beyond a wine museum, La Cité du Vin is an immersive journey through the culture and history of wine. Tour the innovative space with an expert guide. End on the rooftop to views of Bordeaux and a glass of wine in hand. Choose a dinner of your liking at one of Bordeaux’s gourmet restaurants.
This morning we head north to the Médoc region, known to produce many of the finest wines in the world. We’ll tour two of the most famous wineries of the region located around Pauillac – one is the prestigious Château Mouton Rothschild. Both chateau’s create excellent wines produced from the Cabernet Sauvignon grape using cutting edge technology that pays homage to past traditions.
In the afternoon, savor a delicious lunch of classic French fare at a hidden gem in Médoc. After a late lunch, return to the property for some rest and relaxation. Enjoy dinner at your leisure this evening.
Visit a state-of-the art cooperage and meet the family who have been creating barrels for over five generations. Many of France’s greatest vintages have been aged in these hand-crafted barrels. Discover the complexity of matching oak with wine and learn about the process of barrel making – from sourcing wood in French oak forests to wood toasting and milling.
Enjoy a lovely wine-paired lunch at a must visit wine estate – Château D’Agassac. After, head to Château Giscours for a guided wine tour and tasting. Learn about their winemaking process and classified wines. Join together for a prix-fixe dinner this evening.
Visit the largest estate in the Lalande de Pomerol appellation and a classified Historic Monument. Take part in a blind wine tasting and blending workshop followed by a seasonally inspired lunch at the charming Château. After, tour the medieval village of Saint-Émilion with an expert local guide. Learn why it’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to world-famous wine. See the Cordeliers cloister which features underground cellars and a monolithic church.
Back at the property this evening, enjoy time at your leisure. Indulge yourself in any one of the delights and services the property has to offer. Dinner is on your own.
French Culinary Workshop
Roll up your sleeves this morning and prepare for the culinary teachings from a two-starred Michelin chef. Absorb the aroma and flavor of fresh ingredients during their peak seasonality. Learn the essential techniques of French cuisine and gain the confidence to practice your new skills to success – finally, a perfectly julienned vegetable. After, savor a picnic lunch of your own creation.
Take part in a guided cycling tour and discover the surrounding vineyards. Gain access to neighboring wineries and learn secrets of winemaking straight from the experts. Relax and enjoy the afternoon on your own. This evening, head over Château Smith Haut Lafitte for a private cellar tour and visit to the on-site cooperage that ends with a wine tasting. Indulge in an expertly prepared farewell dinner.

Enjoy seven nights in this luxury country estate surrounded by the vineyards of Château Smith Haut Lafitte. The property consists of a collection of contemporary buildings and lake-filled gardens.
