L'Ecole N. 41

Embark with Marty and Megan Clubb on an exclusive journey to the storied Loire Valley, a region where history and artistry intertwine in the architectural grandeur of its iconic châteaux and revered winemaking traditions. These age-old practices and the resulting vibrant Vouvray wines helped inspire Megan’s parents, Jean and Baker Ferguson, to found L’Ecole in the Walla Walla Valley.

Over the course of this carefully curated 8-day journey, we'll immerse ourselves in the elegance of stately gardens and historic residences, complemented by private tastings of the Loire’s finest expressions, from aromatic Sauvignon Blanc and crisp Chenin Blanc to refined Cabernet Franc. As we explore the landscapes and terroirs that shape the region’s wines, we’ll also uncover its gastronomic identity, where Michelin-starred dinners highlight the deep relationship between food, wine, and culture. Together, we’ll discover the flavors of the Loire and the stories and traditions that make it truly unforgettable.

Our home for the week will be Les Sources de Cheverny, an elegant country estate situated in the heart of the Loire Valley.

Day 3

VOUVRAY

Today we’ll venture west along the Loire to explore the art of Vouvray winemaking— celebrated worldwide for its exquisite white wines crafted primarily from the noble Chenin Blanc grape variety— Megan’s mother's true passion. Visit two renowned estates for behind-the-scenes tours of their ancient cellars and tastings of different vintages and styles of their high-quality wines. Learn about the history, unique terroir, and methods of these dedicated producers while taking in the scenic vineyard views. Between visits, we’ll participate in a fun hands-on cooking class. TOURS

After a leisurely breakfast, we’ll travel west to the city of Tours, often referred to as the "gateway to the Loire Valley" and known for its rich medieval and Renaissance history and charming Old Town. Join a friendly local guide who will share stories of the town's historical significance, architectural highlights, and cultural legacy. Our walking tour will take us past the gothic Saint-Gatien Cathedral, the lively central square—Place Plumereau — with its half-timbered medieval buildings, and Les Halles de Tours market, filled with a wide selection of local vendors, where we'll meet a few artisan producers and enjoy a light lunch. After the tour, have free time to explore the cobblestone streets at your own pace. This evening, we have a special gourmet dining experience at a Michelin-starred restaurant featuring dishes crafted from the best ingredients in the Loire Valley.

After an open lunch, we’ll make our way to Château de Chenonceau, a masterpiece of French Renaissance architecture uniquely spanning the River Cher with its five elegant arches. We’ll board a private boat to cruise along Le Cher, sipping an aperitif as we're introduced to the history and construction of the fairytale château. Afterward, we'll meet an expert guide for a private tour of the castle. Hear fascinating stories about the lives of its illustrious residents and get a glimpse of 16th-century life as we explore the beautifully preserved rooms and impressive gardens. For dinner this evening, indulge in authentic French cuisine with a modern twist, served in a setting that embodies the charm and warmth of a classic French auberge, or country inn.

Day 6

AMBOISE & BLOIS

Start the day with a visit to Château de Montdomaine winery— run by a family that has been crafting wine for 500 years. Tour the vineyard and historic cellars and enjoy a guided tasting of wines showcasing the area's unique terroir and the winemaking methods passed down through generations. We'll have lunch paired with the estate’s top wines followed by a visit to nearby Château du Clos Lucé. In contrast to Chambord's imposing grandeur and Chenonceau's romantic elegance, the more intimate and artistic Clos Lucé is a beautifully preserved manor house that served as the final residence of Leonardo da Vinci. Join a knowledgeable guide for a private tour that delves into the life and work of da Vinci before returning to the hotel. This evening, private transportation is available for an evening out in Blois, for those who wish to experience the town’s charming cobblestone streets, medieval ambiance, and authentic French flavors.

Activity Level

This trip has been designed to include daily exploratory walks that range from one to three hours. Each day, whether touring a city or winery, guests should be prepared to be on their feet for multiple continuous hours. Guests should feel comfortable strolling along cobbled surfaces, walking up and down stairs, and sauntering down uneven nature paths. Europe tends to have Old World infrastructure (narrow cobblestone streets, lack of elevators, etc.), which can leave some areas inaccessible. Typically, our more invigorating walks are included as optional activities.  If your mobility is limited in any way, or if you have questions, please contact our Guest Services team at guestservices@experi.com.
