Medina del Campo
This morning we’ll head to the stunning town of Medina del Campo and view the Castle of La Mota. Learn the history and cultural importance of the castle on a guided tour. After, we’ll head to the Campo Eliseo winery in D.O. Rueda. This region typically produces white wines from the Verdejo varietal. Enjoy the beautiful landscape during an in depth tour and tasting followed by lunch.
Later, we’ll stop at Campoveja Queseria, a cheesemaker located in the heart of Castilla y León. Tour the facility, learn about their cheese-making process, and taste a variety of sheep’s milk cheeses. Enjoy time to explore Valladolid at your own pace – dinner is on your own this evening.
Today, we’ll visit the Provincial Wine Museum in the gorgeous Peñafiel Castle. Listen as an expert guide gives an extensive overview of the rich wine-making history of Valladolid. After, head to the Pago de Carraovejas Winery for an unforgettable tour, tasting, and progressive tapas lunch.
In the afternoon we’ll head to a boutique winery in Peñafiel producing wines from the Tinto Fino, or Tempranillo, varietal. Meet the owner and taste wines together in the production room. Enjoy the remainder of the day at your leisure. Reservations can be made at your request for dinner tonight in Valladolid.
Relax and chat during breakfast, then take a walk through a local food market collecting ingredients. This morning, engage in a culinary workshop where you’ll learn about tapas, or small plates, that are one of Spain’s most famous and traditional dishes. Make a lunch out of the tapas created in the class, complemented by Valladolid wines.
Later, refresh your palette at La Loca Juana, a microbrewery located in Iscar Castle. The castle is an ancient fort on a hilltop. Tour the great halls, tower, and fermentation areas. This evening, savor a dinner of authentic cuisine at a traditional restaurant in Valladolid.
Discover the family owned Teso la Monja Winery this morning with over five generations of grape growing experience in Rioja. View the vineyards spread over the foothills of the Sierra de Cantabria and tour the beautifully designed estate. Learn about the different red and white grape varieties grown and the wines created from them.
This afternoon, we’ll take part in another tour and tasting at Quinta de la Quietud Winery. Learn about their organic farming methods, meander the estate and vineyards, and enjoy lunch with the lead winemaker. Explore Valladolid later this evening during a tapas crawl through the Old Quarter, led by your Travel Director.
Spend the day in Salamanca, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We’ll stroll through the city with an expert guide, passing gorgeous Baroque architecture and historical landmarks like Plaza Mayor, Casa de las Conchas, the old and new cathedral, and Casa Lis. Delight in a special lunch at the only Michelin-starred restaurant in Salamanca. Experience Chef Victor Gutiérrez’s experimental creations with Peruvian roots. Explore at your own pace this afternoon with dinner at your leisure.
Explore the Cigales D.O. area today, known for producing award-winning rosé and red wines. Head to 300-year-old La Legua Winery for the first of today’s tours. Meet the winemaking staff, learn about their cultivation practices, and see the recently built production building and barrel room.
Feast on lunch in a 13th-century wine cellar. Enjoy traditional dishes from the region, such as delectable Castilian roast lamb. After, continue on to Sinforiano Winery for a tour and tasting of their premium wines. Dinner is at your leisure in Valladolid this evening.
Check out of the hotel, then take a private transfer to our new hotel in Spain’s lively capital city of Madrid. Explore the city on your own this afternoon, and soak up its vibrancy and energetic culture. Come together for a farewell dinner tonight, celebrating our experiences and newfound appreciation for Spanish wines.
