Land in the Lyon–Saint-Exupéry Airport and meet your friendly travel director in the arrivals hall. Take a private transfer to the port where you will board the Amadeus Provence river cruise ship. Settle in and take in the vistas as the cruise begins along the Saône River. This evening, gather together for a delicious welcome cocktail and dinner on the ship.
Today, the ship arrives in the charming town of Mâcon, situated along the Saone River in Southern Burgundy. This famed region is known for prestigious and elegant wines, historically significant cathedrals, and stunning pastel-hued architecture lining the riverbanks. This morning we depart for the renowned southern Burgundy countryside to participate in an Experi-exclusive wine tasting and tour. After, we return to the ship to enjoy lunch and relax. This afternoon you can either explore the ancient town of Macon at leisure or join us out for another Experi-exclusive tasting. We return to the ship early evening for dinner as we say goodbye to Mâcon and head to Chalon-sur-Saône.
After a breakfast aboard, disembark in the charming riverside commune of Chalon-sur-Saône as we explore the Côte Chalonnaise and Côte de Beaune wine regions. The town of Chalon is situated within Burgundy’s Route des Grands Vins, a region that features idyllic terrain with more than 40 wine villages and UNESCO World Heritage winning producers. Join us today as we explore the upper Burgundy region on a day of Experi-exclusive wine tastings and exploration. We meet the ship in Tournus this evening for a delicious dinner and evening on board.
This morning we arrive in Lyon, the third largest city in France, for a morning of culinary exploration. Coined the “gastronomy capital of the world,” we’ll stroll down cobbled passageways in Vieux Lyon, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and taste the essential nature of this city along the way. After our tasting tour, explore the Halles de Lyon Paull Bocuse — the city’s indoor food market filled with delicious treasures. Savor the bountiful regional produce and Lyonnaise specialties on display in one of the city’s many open air markets. Board the vessel at noon to sail south and take a relaxing afternoon to enjoy the views of Renaissance architecture and picturesque countryside as we head south.
Waking up in Provence, we arrive at the ancient city of Avignon, filled with magnificent art and architecture. Today, we wander through the city on a guided tour, winding down streets with boutiques, artisan stores, and cafés and explore the Palais des Papes, the world’s largest Gothic palace.
After lunch, we head off to explore and discover wines from the renowned wine region of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, where vineyards cover more than 7,900 acres of land. Strict appellation d'origine contrôlée rules allow 18 varieties of red and white wines to be produced. Enjoy tastings while learning about the region's history and terroir.
Afterwards, head back to the ship for dinner together, or explore Avignon on your own tonight.
Today, we’ll disembark in Arles, an ancient port city along the Rhône river, popular with Vincent Van Gogh in the late 19th century. This morning we head to a charming Provençal village for a culinary workshop to experience French cooking ourselves. Learn local techniques, ingredients, and recipes as we spend the morning creating our lunch to be enjoyed with local wines and great company.
This afternoon, we travel to Les Baux-de-Provence to explore the breathtaking Carrières de Lumières, a quarry turned art installation. Stroll around the village of Les Baux with your travel director before heading back to the ship for dinner.
Early this morning we arrive in the port of Châteauneuf-du-Rhône. Today you have the option of relaxing on board or join us as we explore the Ardeche Gorge and rejoin the ship in Le Pouzin. Tonight we enjoy our farewell dinner on board the ship as it sails to the final destination of Lyon.
Join the group on board for a final breakfast before disembarking in the port of Lyon. Take a private transfer to the Lyon–Saint-Exupéry Airport.

This trip has been designed to include daily exploratory walks that range from one to three hours. Each day, whether touring a city or winery, guests should be prepared to be on their feet for multiple continuous hours. Guests should feel comfortable strolling along cobbled surfaces, walking up and down stairs, and sauntering down uneven nature paths. Country terrain can leave some areas inaccessible — if you require any walking assistance, please inquire with our guest services team.
