Day 1
Arrive
Welcome to the South of France! A private driver will greet you at the Marseille airport and transport you to our accommodations in the town of Saint-Rémy-de-Provence. Check in and have some time to relax and get settled. This evening, we’ll kick things off with introductions and an apéritif, followed by a wine-paired Welcome Dinner at the property, where we’ll enjoy our first taste of the region's culinary offerings.
Day 2
Les Baux de Provence
After breakfast, we’ll drive into the Alpilles mountains to the nearby Carrières de Lumières, a former quarry converted into an immersive multimedia art installation. Following this unique experience, we’ll continue to the village of Les Baux-de-Provence, designated as one of France’s most beautiful villages. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant and join a knowledgeable local guide to explore the village’s ancient cobblestone streets, rock formations, and 10th-century castle. Return to the property for an open evening. Our Travel Director is happy to provide recommendations for dinner.
Day 3
Avignon
Today, we’ll head north to the walled medieval town of Avignon, which served as the seat of Catholic popes in the 14th century. Begin with free time to explore the iconic Pont d’Avignon, browse local shops, and relax in the charming leafy squares. Midday, we’ll come together for a wine-paired lunch showcasing regional flavors, followed by a guided tour of the magnificent Pope’s Palace—the largest Gothic structure in Europe and the heart of papal power for over 100 years. Discover the wines favored by the popes during this era, visit the Petit Palais Museum, and enjoy an exclusive experience at Clos de la Vigne, a unique vineyard featuring 12 grape varieties. Here, we’ll have a tasting and learn about the region’s viticulture. Afterward, return to the property for a free evening.
Day 4
Cooking Class & Saint-Rémy-de-Provence
This morning, stroll into town for a visit to the market and a hands-on culinary class in a private local kitchen. We’ll learn the techniques of Provençal cooking, which rely on fresh seasonal ingredients and simple recipes passed down through generations. Afterward, we’ll sit down with a glass of wine and enjoy the fruits of our labor. This afternoon, join a local guide who will point out highlights of the town and share stories about St-Rémy’s rich history and former residents. The remainder of the day will be free to explore on your own.
Day 5
Lourmarin
Today we’ll go behind the scenes at a Provençal family farm, where we’ll have the opportunity to participate in one of the local traditions— a truffle hunt or perhaps a grape stomp or olive harvest, depending on the season. Enjoy a light lunch at the farm before continuing to the picturesque village of Lourmarin, surrounded by vineyards, olive groves, and lavender fields. Join a local guide for a walking tour of the town’s historic center, followed by free time to stroll the winding cobblestone pathways and explore the shops and galleries. We’ll return to the property late this afternoon for an open evening.
Day 6
Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Today we explore the southern part of the Rhône Valley, visiting the renowned appellation of Châteauneuf-du-Pape (the “pope’s new castle”) and the village of the same name. We’ll visit two highly regarded local wineries for tours and tastings. Experience the vineyards and cellars and learn about the terroirs, varietals, and winemaking techniques of these two area producers. In between winery visits, we’ll stop for lunch in the village and have some free time to explore. We’ll return to our accommodations late afternoon for an open evening.
Day 7
Moulin du Calanquet
Enjoy a leisurely morning and ample free time today for any last-minute shopping, sightseeing, and packing. In the mid-afternoon, we’ll make our way to a local olive oil company and olive grove where the traditional varieties of the Alpilles region have been replanted. Learn about the production process and taste the distinctive varieties and blends, which differ from the mass-produced olive oil typically used for cooking. After the tour, continue to a nearby château where we’ll toast our journey during a delicious Farewell Dinner.
Day 8
Departure
After breakfast, take a private transfer back to the Marseille Airport. Not ready to leave and say goodbye? Continue your journey with an optional four-day extension.

Day 10
Tain l’Hermitage
After breakfast, we’ll head north to the town of Tain l’Hermitage. We’ll start the day with a visit to the Valrhona Cité du Chocolat, an interactive center run by one of the world’s leading chocolate manufacturers. During the visit, we will learn about chocolate making and discover the many facets of chocolate, as well as gain a full appreciation of its flavors. This trip has been designed to include daily exploratory walks that range from one to three hours. Each day, whether touring a city or winery, guests should be prepared to be on their feet for multiple continuous hours. Guests should feel comfortable strolling along cobbled surfaces, walking up and down stairs, and sauntering down uneven nature paths. Europe tends to have Old World infrastructure (narrow cobblestone streets, lack of elevators, etc.), which can leave some areas inaccessible. Typically, our more invigorating walks are included as optional activities. If your mobility is limited in any way, or if you have questions, please contact our Guest Services team at guestservices@experi.com.
