Arrive Frankfurt
Welcome! A private driver will greet you at the Frankfurt Airport and transport you across the border to our accommodations in the Alsace capital of Strasbourg. Check in and have some time to relax and get settled. This evening, we’ll kick things off with introductions and an apéritif followed by a wine-paired Welcome Dinner at a nearby restaurant.
Day 2
STRASBOURG
After a relaxing morning, meet a local guide for a gourmet food tour of the city’s historic center that includes the Strasbourg Cathedral and the picturesque La Petite France, a charming neighborhood of half-timbered houses and canals. Taste some of the most iconic dishes of Alsatian cuisine such as tarte flambée, kougelhopf, and the native munster cheese. After the tour, we’ll embark on a boat cruise on the Ill River showcasing the varied architecture of Strasbourg from a different vantage point. The remainder of the afternoon and evening will be open to relax and enjoy as you wish. Our Travel Director is happy to provide recommendations for dinner.
Day 3
OBERNAI
This morning, we’ll make our way southwest to the picturesque town of Obernai. Meet a local guide who will share stories about the town during a walking tour that takes us past rows of medieval houses, small open plazas, and historic monuments tucked within the town’s fortifications. After the tour, continue along the Alsace Wine Route to a family-run winery for lunch, a cellar tour, and tasting. Next we’ll venture to Mont Sainte-Odile, a peak in the Vosges Mountains named after the patron saint of Alsace and an important historical religious site. Take in the ancient monastery and the panoramic views of the Alsace plain before returning to the property for a free evening.
Day 4
Colmar
Travel south this morning where our first stop will be just south of Colmar at a wine estate owned by a family that has been producing wine in Alsace for generations. Enjoy a guided tour of the winery, learn about their unique terroir and sustainable farming practices, and taste the wines and Crémants d’Alsace for which they are known. We’ll sit down to lunch at the winery before continuing into the fairytale town of Colmar. Join a local guide for a walking tour of its winding cobbled streets, half-timbered buildings, and flower-lined canals and learn about the colorful history of this area that has passed back and forth between France and Germany through the centuries. Following the tour, we’ll have some free time to wander around town before returning to the property for a free evening.
Day 5
Culinary Workshop
Today we’ll delve into the food traditions of Alsace, rolling up our sleeves to participate in a hands-on cooking class using seasonal ingredients. Together with a local chef, we’ll prepare a four-course lunch before gathering around the table with a glass of wine to enjoy our meal. Return to the property afterward for time to relax.
Day 6
Haut-Koenigsbourg & Riquewihr
After breakfast, we’ll venture southwest to Haut Koenigsbourg Castle, a medieval architectural gem built in the 12th century high above the Alsace plain. Explore the castle with a local guide, taking in the living quarters, drawbridges, collection of medieval weapons, and expansive views over the surrounding area. Continue on to the charming village of Riquewihr, surrounded by vineyards, where we’ll enjoy a traditional lunch and tasting of Alsatian wines. Return to our accommodations in the afternoon and enjoy an open evening.
Day 7
Strasbourg
For our final full day in Alsace, we’ll have a leisurely morning and ample free time for any last minute shopping and sightseeing, as well as packing. In the afternoon, we’ll have a private visit to the Historical Wine Cellar of the Strasbourg Hospices, used in the Middle Ages to store wine, grain, and other perishable goods. Later, we’ll head out to a nearby local restaurant to toast our journey and enjoy a festive farewell dinner.
Day 8
Departure Frankfurt
After breakfast, take a private transfer back to the Frankfurt Airport for flights home. Not ready to say goodbye? Continue your journey with an optional four-day extension.
Day 8
Rouffach
After lunch, depart Strasbourg and head south to our new accommodations in the town of Rouffach, overlooking the foothills of the Vosges Mountains. Check in and have time to relax and explore the surroundings before sitting down to a wine-paired dinner at the property.
Day 9
WWII Alsace
After breakfast, we’ll drive north, stopping first at the Alsace-Moselle Memorial. Through history, this region was subject to territorial disputes between France and Germany and was the only part of France to be annexed by the Third Reich from 1940-1945. The interactive exhibition delves into this history. Along the way, make a stop for lunch before a somber visit to the nearby site of the former Natzwiller Stuthof concentration camp, constructed after the German annexation during World War II. A permanent exhibition outside the gates of the camp provides a general sense of the resistance movement and deportation in Europe. Inside the gates, see reconstructed parts of the Natzweiler-Struthof concentration camp. Return to the property late this afternoon for an open evening.
Day 10
Rouffach
Enjoy an open day to relax and enjoy the amenities of the hotel or further explore the Alsace Wine Route or surrounding area at your own pace. We’ll gather tonight for a delicious wine-paired dinner.
Day 11
Departure Frankfurt
After breakfast, take a private transfer to Frankfurt Airport for your return flight home. Au revoir!

Activity Level
This trip has been designed to include daily exploratory walks that range from one to three hours. Each day, whether touring a city or winery, guests should be prepared to be on their feet for multiple continuous hours. Guests should feel comfortable strolling along cobbled surfaces, walking up and down stairs, and sauntering down uneven nature paths. Europe tends to have Old World infrastructure (narrow cobblestone streets, lack of elevators, etc.), which can leave some areas inaccessible. Typically, our more invigorating walks are included as optional activities. If your mobility is limited in any way, or if you have questions, please contact our Guest Services team at guestservices@experi.com.
