Welcome to Porto, where you will be met at the airport and transported to your contemporary rivership, Emerald Radiance. This evening, we’ll enjoy our first dinner on board.

As we get underway, relax and enjoy a full day of sailing through the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Douro Valley. This fascinating area is celebrated for its two millennia of wine producing history, which has shaped the surrounding landscape and small, sleepy villages nestled among sun-drenched vineyards.

Tonight, enjoy a welcome dinner and cocktail reception.

Day 3


Begin your day with a visit to the beautiful Quinta do Tedo vineyard in the heart of Portugal’s Douro Valley, nestled on the confluence of the Douro and Tedo rivers. Learn about the traditional viticulture methods and sustainable agricultural practices used at this family-run winery and taste their wines.

Alternatively, enjoy a guided walk through the vineyards of this 18th-century estate, or embark on a kayak excursion along the river, taking in the impressive views from the heart of the Douro Valley.

This afternoon, we’ll sail to Vega de Terrón, near the border of Portugal and Spain, perhaps relaxing on the Sun Deck.

Day 4


Founded in Roman times, the ancient city of Salamanca and its UNESCO World Heritage-listed Old Quarter have a storied past, tracing their roots back to the Carthaginians, Romans, and Moors.

Visit the beautiful ‘Golden City’ for a guided walking tour, which includes the postcard-worthy galleries and arcades that adorn Plaza Mayor, the distinctive Casa de las Conchas building decorated with more than 300 shells, and the city’s university that dates back to 1218.

Day 5


This morning, we’ll dock in Pocinho and head to the historic town of Castelo Rodrigo, known for its well-preserved medieval features and panoramic view of the surrounding countryside. During a tour, we’ll have the chance to uncover the secrets of this small village’s rich history and sample some typical local products. Later, return to ship for lunch and soak up your idyllic surroundings. Enjoy a Port wine cocktail lesson on board as we sail towards Régua.

Day 6


Today we’ll visit the Baroque village of Lamego, stopping to see the picturesque shrine of Nossa Senhora dos Remédios (Our Lady of Remedies), a structure that stands gracefully over the town. Those who are feeling energetic may enjoy a walk down the 686-step staircase adorned with Azulejo tiles that leads from the sanctuary to the main square. After the tour, we’ll have to option to experience a rural lunch at Quinta da Pacheca, one of the finest estates in the Douro Valley. Later, we’ll have the opportunity to learn about the Portuguese mosaic painting tradition.

Day 7


Our destination today is the vibrant city of Porto, located at the mouth of the Douro River and known for its rich history, lively cultural scene, and role as the birthplace of Port wine.

Enjoy a guided tour of the coastal city, which will touch on the fortified structures of Castelo da Foz and Castelo do Queijo, a building with an impressive view of the ocean. For those who prefer to see the charms of Porto on foot, our active walk through town will bring you closer to the daily life of the locals.

After breakfast, disembark and transfer to the Porto airport for your return flight, taking memories of the spectacular Douro Valley with you.

Day 8


Depart this morning, traveling northwest to the Vinho Verde wine region— the largest wine growing region of Portugal. Along the way, take in the rolling green countryside, stopping in the town of Amarante, an ancient settlement on the banks of the River Tâmega known for its blend of Renaissance, Medieval, and Romanesque architecture. Have some free time to find a spot for lunch before venturing on to our accommodations. As evening falls, look forward to a wine-paired dinner of regional dishes at the property.

Magic of Vinho Verde

After breakfast, embark on a journey through the relatively young and dynamic Vinho Verde wine region. Visit the distinguished Quinta de Santa Christina for a tour and tasting followed by a picnic lunch of regional products set amidst the vineyards.

In the afternoon, explore another acclaimed winery, deepening your understanding of Vinho Verde's unique wine styles. Return to the property for a leisurely evening.

Day 10

Vinho Verde Delights & Amarante Dining

Start the day at your own pace, perhaps choosing to indulge in the hotel's spa or explore the surrounding vineyards. After an open lunch, make your way to Quinta da Lixa, a family-run winery where a guided tour will unveil the production methods of Vinho Verde winemaking, followed by a tasting of their wines. Return to the hotel with some time to relax before venturing back out to Amarante for a special gourmet dining experience at a local restaurant showcasing Mediterranean cuisine of Portugese origin.

After breakfast, a private transfer will take you to Porto Airport, marking the conclusion of your wine journey through Portugal's northern regions.
